I should think that the main "must-see" in Aachen would be Charlemagne's
palatine chapel, begun in 792.  It's definitely on my list for my next trip
to Europe.  I'm particularly curious to know whether the throne which shows
in some photographs of the interior is purported to date from Charlemagne's
time.
