Position Open:  Rights & Licensing Executive.

VAGA (Visual Artists and Galleries Association), an artists’ rights
organization and copyright collective, is currently seeking a full-time
Rights & Licensing Executive.

VAGA represents reproduction rights (copyrights) for approximately 500
American artists, and through agreements with affiliated organizations in
other countries, thousands of foreign artists worldwide. Some of the Artists
and Estates we represent: Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Larry Rivers,
Elizabeth Catlett, Janet Fish, Louise Bourgeois, James Rosenquist, Carl
Andre, Wolf Kahn, Wayne Thiebaud, Tom Wesselmann, Alex Katz, David Salle,
Leon Golub, Robert Smithson, Grant Wood, Adolph Gottlieb, Ben Shahn, Stuart
Davis, Thomas Hart Benton, Romare Bearden, Donald Judd, Maxfield Parrish,
Vik Muniz, Robert Arneson, Robert Motherwell, Alexander Rodchenko, David
Smith, George Segal, and Joseph Cornell.

As representatives for artists’ copyrights, VAGA licenses to publishers,
museums and other art users the right to reproduce our artists’ works in
everything from scholarly texts, textbooks and museum exhibition catalogues
to films, calendars, postcards and posters.

Duties for this position include:
-Working closely with artists, publishers, museums, galleries and other art
users in all aspects of clearing rights for the reproduction of works of art
by VAGA-represented artists.
-Processing royalties from domestic clients and international sister
societies for distribution to member artists.
-Working with the Executive Director to recruit new member artists.
-Developing methods to increase the company’s industry presence.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of 20th century-art is important and museum and publishing
experience helpful.  Must be good with numbers; be highly organized,
detail-oriented and able to multi-task; have excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Must be willing to accomplish day-to-day business
dealings as well as take initiative to work towards achieving long-term
company goals. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.  Experience with ACT! is a
strong plus.

Ideal job for someone interested in art and/or copyright law. Salary is
commensurate with experience and qualifications.
