We can help. We're just waiting to see what others will write.

Get a hold of the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA, (818) 405-2252.
I think they have placed UV plex filters over some of their windows, but
I don't remember if their french doors had them. Find out if they had
their in-house staff work on the problem or if they had outside help,
that's number one.

You can buy the UV filtered plex and have a contractor work with you
specifically on how to attach the filters to the window framing.

Lots of people with historic homes say they cannot put UV filters over
their windows because the windows are "historic." That violates the
preservation of the thing as it were. However, historic homes have
valuable items, and there ought to be a way to filter the light.

The Nixon Library's Birthplace has window shades that are similar to what
you would have seen during the time the Nixons lived there (1912-1922)
(RN was born there in 1913). We keep the shades down. We have lace
curtains in the living room, and we keep them closed, not drawn as the
docents would love.

Vendors is the tricky thing; normally conservation framers have access to
a variety of vendors, and they are very willing to share their contacts.
Check out the Official Museum Directory's listing of products & services.
Cyro is the company that puts out OP-2 acrylic sheet, call (1800)
631-5384.

There are other companies out there, but now you've got somehwere to
start.
