I'm new to Internet and to the Museum List Server- I read about
both in a recent article in "Museum." I thought I would venture sending
out a message across the ether to see what response I would receive.
Has anyone out there had experience working with museum
collections and archives in Russia? I'm leaving soon for Petersburg to
work in the State Russian Museum and the Saltykov-Schedrin Library, and I
will spend some time in the Tretiakov galley in Moscow. I'm wondering if
anyone has any insights and suggestions in doing research in these
institutions?
I should explain that I am a graduate student in Art History at
Univ. of Calif. at Davis. My topic, not yet fully defined, is Russian
Neoprimitivism, particularly the work of Goncharova and Larionov. I'm am
particularly interested in the areas of Museum studies and collection
management, and work as a volunteer for the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento.
Thank you in advance for your comments.
