Hello everyone,

Once again I ask for advice and information from you and thank you in
advance. Please feel free to contact me off-list at my work e-mail,
[log in to unmask]

My size-challenged museum is considering changing its staff structure
and I've been given the task of determining the desirability of changing
the current chain of command. I would like to hear from any of you who
work at a museum where the collections manager/registrar or curator of
collections answers to the curator who in turn answers to the director. I
would also like to hear from those of you who work in a museum where the
curator and curator of collections are equal and both answer to the
director.

It would be extremely helpful to know why each structure was chosen
(does it work well?)and a brief summary of the responsibilities of each
position. I am particularly interested in the way a curator of collections
and a curator would function independently.

Thanks,
Susan
