HEAD GUIDE

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation is seeking a dynamic individual for
our Head Guide position.  The Head Guide oversees the operation of house
tours for approximately 600,000 visitors each year; manages, hires, trains,
and evaluates 60 or more guides; develops interpretive materials and
programs; and organizes advanced training for the staff.

The Head Guide reports to the Curator and works closely with the research
staff.

Qualifications include a college degree and substantial museum experience.
Advanced study in history is preferred.

RESEARCH HISTORIAN

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation seeks a thoughtful, analytical,
ambitious historian to execute original research and writing projects
concerning Thomas Jefferson, Monticello, and closely related topics in
support of the Foundation's interpretive plan and other Foundation
imperatives.

Requirements include an advanced degree in early American history, American
studies, or a related field; a demonstrated ability to propose, conduct, and
complete research projects of varying scope, including works of publishable
length & quality; a developed knowledge of Jefferson and Monticello or a
manifest willingness to cultivate expertise in these areas; a demonstrated
capacity for independent action as well as willingness to accept assignments
and work cooperatively with others; excellence in communication skill, both
verbal and written; the capacity to manage multiple tasks at once; the
ability to direct the work of others in an effective but courteous and
respectful way.

Desirable are two or more years spend conducting research in a museum or
related institutional setting.  Most desirable is a capacity to read and
interpret seventeenth and eighteenth century documents.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation is seeking an assistant for the
Foundation's President.  Responsibilities include arranging business
meetings and appointments and assembling required documents; coordinating
business lunches; screening and directing phone calls; composing,
proofreading, and editing correspondence; communicating with the Board of
Trustees; and making travel arrangements.

Position requires the ability to handle confidential information; a high
degree of professionalism; strong judgement and attention to detail; the
capability to communicate and work closely with other staff members;
proficiency in operating a personal computer and in transcription; knowledge
of standard office procedures and etiquette; and a positive caring attitude.

Requires ability to use MS Office, Corel Suite.  College degree required
with at least two years experience in a similar position.   This position
works closely with and reports directly to the President.

Full time position, 8:00 to 5:00, M-F with an excellent benefits package.
