Dear Ms. Norris:

In 1917, the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce commissioned a photographer to
document the existing industrial, commercial and civic conditions of the
city; these photographs were later given to the Louisiana State Museum. If
1917 is not too late to be of interest to you, we have images of the
American Broom Manufacturing Company, the Crescent Broom Company, George A.
Smith's Royal Broom Factory, and the National Hosiery Mills, all located in
New Orleans.

The 1917 New Orleans Chamber of Commerce photograph collection can be
viewed online, as a result of a partnership with the LOUISiana Digital
Library. Go to: http://louisdl.louislibraries.org/collections.html Scroll
down to "New Orleans Chamber of Commerce Photograph Collection," then
enter "broom" or "hosiery" in the basic keyword search, or, if you would
prefer to browse the entire collection, images are alphabetized by company
name.

If you would like to reproduce any of the images, please contact Tom
Lanham, Assistant Registrar, at 504-568-6984.

Hope this helps; best wishes for your exhibit!

Sincerely,
Shannon Glasheen
