Robert L. Dilenschneider Named First IMLS Leadership Lecturer

Washington, DC-Robert L. Dilenschneider, legendary mega-trends thinker
and internationally-recognized public relations guru, will present the
inaugural "Institute of Museum and Library Services Leadership Lecture,"
this fall in Washington, D.C.

This talk will launch the Institute's Leadership Lecture Series designed
to encourage and promote national dialogue about library and museum
leadership.

Mr. Dilenschneider, high-level counselor to many of the world's largest
corporations, organizations, and institutions, public and private, is
also frequently tapped by the media for commentary on major news stories
and emerging social, political, economic, and cultural trends. He was
head of Hill & Knowlton from 1986 to 1991, then the world's largest PR
firm, tripling its revenues to nearly $200 million. He formed the
Dilenschneider Group in October, 1991.

"I am delighted that Bob Dilenschneider has accepted this invitation,"
said Anne-Imelda Radice, Director of the Institute of Museum and Library
Services. "He is a dynamic futurist who will challenge library and
museum professionals to think about the role of their institutions going
forward in fresh and innovative ways. His keen and insightful
perspectives will challenge the status quo and enable us to imagine a
new future."

The IMLS Leadership Lecture will be an annual national policy event.
Established in honor of the 10th anniversary of the federal Institute of
Museum and Library Services, the Lecture is intended to inform policy,
inspire new leaders and new leadership ideas, and spur innovation and
action. The invitation-only lecture will take place at the William G.
McGowan Theater at the National Archives Building on October 22, 2007.

The nation's museums and libraries currently face a number of
significant challenges, not only from the continuing rapid pace of
change in information technology, but from the complex mix of economic,
political, social, educational and policy forces impacting all public
institutions today. In his remarks, Mr. Dilenschneider will share his
views about power, leadership, strategic communications and the future
of libraries and museums in an increasingly technological era.

Mr. Dilenschneider is a member of the advisory boards of the Center for
Strategic and International Studies and the New York Presbyterian
Hospital; and the North American Advisory Board of The Michael Smurfit
School of Business at University College Dublin. Additionally, he is a
member of The Bretton Woods Committee, the Board of Directors of Prep
for Prep, the Board of Governors of the Leader to Leader Institute, the
Soundwaters Honorary Board, and a Trustee of the Institute of
International Education, as well as a former member of the Board of
Governors of the American Red Cross. He has likewise served on numerous
corporate boards.

Mr. Dilenschneider's many other affiliations include membership in the
Council on Foreign Relations, the U.S.-Japan Business Council, the
Economic Clubs of New York and Chicago, the Florida Council of 100, the
Public Relations Society of America and the International Public
Relations Association. He is a Fellow to the International Association
of Business Communicators. In recognition of his contributions to
promoting New York City, Mr. Dilenschneider received the city's "Big
Apple Award." In 2001, he also received an honorary Doctorate of Public
Service degree from Muskingum College.

The first IMLS Leadership lecturer is a widely published author, having
written eight books, including the best-selling Power and Influence, A
Briefing for Leaders, On Power, The Critical 14 Years of Your
Professional Life, Moses: C.E.O, The Critical 2nd Phase of your
Professional Life, 50 Plus!-Critical Career Decisions for the Rest of
Your Life, A Time For Heroes, and most recently, Power and Influence:
The Rules Have Changed. He has previously lectured before scores of
professional organizations and colleges, including the University of
Notre Dame, Ohio State University, New York University and The Harvard
Business School.

Mr. Dilenschneider launched his career in public relations in 1967 in
New York shortly after receiving an M.A. in journalism from Ohio State
University, and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
