Jason,
I don't know what your situation is, but often times internships are
available that pay a stipend.  Usually around 9-12K a year, and health
benefits.  These are usually with museums or environmental institutions.
Have you tried checking out AVISO or Museum Employment Resources (MERC)?
Also, there is a website for environmental jobs:
http://www.ecojobs.com/index.shtml that often lists paid internships.  If you
have already found an internship and are getting school credit for it, then
you are eligible for student financial aid.  Good luck!
