FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT-ENGINEERING

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

Join a dynamic, creative team operating one of America's premiere science
and technology museums.  Participate in The Tech Museum of Innovation's
major expansion into a new facility scheduled for opening in 1998, in the
heart of Silicon Valley.  The Tech is seeking a professional to serve as
the Administrative Assistant for the Engineering Department.  This is a
full-time, exempt position reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
* Establish or maintain record keeping, filing systems, and computer
databases, including but not limited to: exhibit expenses and schedules,
service and operation records, project and budget updates, applicant and
personnel files, and vendor correspondence and company brochures,  asset
management records, and shipping/receiving records.
* Research product vendor sources, literature/library resources and other
projects as assigned.
* Prepare written correspondence (follow-ups, confirmations, thank you
letters, etc.)
* Prepare and process purchase transactions and documentation including but
not limited to  expense authorization, purchase orders, and professional
service agreement forms.
* Maintain timelines and schedules, including but not limited to:  monitor
calendars, confirm appointments, handle phone calls, arrange meetings, and
set up facilities and supplies.
* Assist new and current staff, including but not limited to arrange
interview schedules and make arrangements for office furniture, phones, and
operating supplies and equipment.
* Serve as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holidays, or evenings.  Participate in daily department
operations, as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
* Minimum of three years experience as an administrative assistant
* Proficient with local area networks, Internet, and computer software
including word processing, Excel, World Wide Web browsing/researching, and
e-mail.
* Excellent organizational skills.  Ability to meet tight deadlines when
required.
* Ability to work independently on assignments as well as in teams.
* Willingness to work on weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed.
* Innovative and flexible. Must not be technophobic.
* Willingness to serve as den mother/father to innovative engineers.
