One of my Anthropology and Museum Studies graduate students has an inquiry for Museum-L. She is using a Mixtec cave burial site for her thesis and needs information to support part of her project:

"What I am looking for is literature on the problems/limitations of conducting
research on museum collections that lack provenience or even literature on
conducting research on museum collections in general. (What are the steps that
one has to take in order to gain as much information about a collection as
possible?.)"

Either e-mail the list and I will forward the responses or you can e-mail her (Erin) directly at

Many thanks.
