PLANNING AND PREPARING EXHIBITS

ILLINOIS HERITAGE ASSOCIATION WORKSHOP
Friday, June 1, 2007
9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Geneva History Center, Geneva, Illinois

Good exhibits remain the foundation for 
attracting visitors and teaching local history in 
historical societies and museums.

The Planning and Preparing Exhibits Workshop will 
address every step of the exhibit process from 
choosing a good idea to mounting the last label.

The workshop will cover:
·         Selecting Exhibit Topics
·         Choosing Artifacts and Images
·         Writing and Producing Label Text
·         Designing Space, Color and Layout
·         Building Exhibit Panels
·         Exhibiting Artifacts Safely
·         Mounting Photographs and Illustrations

Registration fee for the workshop is $35, which 
includes luncheon, coffee breaks, educational 
materials, and a tour of the museum. Registration deadline is WEDNESDAY, MAY 23

ABOUT THE SPEAKER…Tom McKay is the former 
coordinator of the Office of Local History at the 
State Historical Society of Wisconsin.  He has 
more than twenty-five years experience providing 
training and assistance to local historical 
societies and museums.  He has presented exhibit 
workshops in Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, 
North Dakota, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and New York.
