An article in the November 1996 issue of Smithsonian magazine referenced a
1996 report by the National Science Board that lists what they call science
and engineering indicators. Within this report was a section titled
"Science and Technology: Public Attitudes and Public Understanding," which
is based on a survey of 2006 people assessing science education and
interest.

The reason I'm telling you all this, besides the fact that I think several
of you would be interested in this, is that I'm trying to track down a copy
of this report, especially the section on public attitude and
understanding. A colleague here at the Science Museum suggested that the
Chicago Academy of Sciences may have been involved in this study. Is there
anyone on this list from that institution who could confirm or negate that
notion? Also, is there anyone on this list who knows how I could get a
copy of this report?

Thanks,
