The U'Mista Cultural Centre is run by the U'Mista Cultural Society, members
of the Kwakwaku'wakw First Nation. This Centre features a collection of
ritual material taken during the enforcement of the potlatching ban in 1921.
It was returned to Alert Bay in 1980, from the museums to which it was
dispersed. They have an active interpretation programme, using these
materials and others to teach youth in the community.

You may reach them at P O Box 253
Alert Bay, BC

>>At the end of the year we hope to send two Maori exhibition designers to

>>interesting and innovative displays of indigenous American culture as
>>possible. Do you have any suggestions?
