Our institution has two events a year for our volunteers, one is a
christmas luncheon held sometime in December, and the other event is a
volunteer recognition/appreciation event held in the afternoon with
nibblies etc. At the recognition event pins and certificates are awarded
for years of service (3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year pins) and all the
attendees names go in a box and prizes are drawn. There are usually only
about 12 prizes, and about 150 volunteers attending. Being a random draw
the same people are not always being singled out for gifts. In talking
with our volunteers they seem to find this very equitable and enjoyable.
