Gail,

That depends on your museum's specific policy -- when you consider the
object to "belong" to the museum.   It can also be the date the appropriate
committee or board approved the gift -- but it must at least be at or after
the time that the three legal requirements of a gift -- offer, acceptance
and transfer of property -- occured and it absolutely MUST be the same
criteria for each donation.

Will someone please clarify which date should appear in Section IV of the
8283 IRS form, the day the work arrived at the museum or the date of the
