***DEMYSTIFYING MOLD***

Location: State Library of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, LA
Date: December 5, 2006
Time: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm 

This one day class provides a general introduction to mold and its
impact on library, museum, and archival collections and artifacts.
Through lecture and discussion, the class defines how to avoid an
outbreak. Topics to be covered includes: General classification of the
types of molds; molds specific to indoor environments housing
collections, artifacts, archival and library materials; a day in the
life of a mold; criteria and parameters for mold development;
Xerophyllic vs. hydrophyllic molds; understanding how HVAC systems work;
potential problems with HVAC systems; disaster preparedness; and
practical control and prevention of mold blooms.

***DIGITAL LIBRARY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT***

Location: University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC
Date: December 4, 2006
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

This one-day class will discuss how to coherently create, integrate, and
sustain new digital resources and programs, such as imaging projects,
within existing resources and programs. Digital Library Program
Development identifies the knowledge necessary to begin developing local
digital resources in a responsible, sustainable, and systematic manner.
This class is intended for those responsible for the development,
management, and administration of new digital library programs.
