I am trying to trace the provenance of a James Thurber drawing "The
Thurber Madonna" which my parents bought in London in the late 1930's.

The drawing was bought so far as I can gather in an Art Gallery somewhere
either in the South Kensington or Knightsbridge areas of London perhaps at
some stage between say, 1936 and the 1940's - the only other piece of
information that I have is that another Thurber drawing "The Last Flower"
was for sale at the same time.

So, how do I find out what Art Gallery had an exhibition of Thurber
drawings in the late 1930's, and was there a catalogue available which
might mention the "Thurber Madonna"?
Can't ask my parents - both deceased.

Any help appreciated.
