I don't believe that those displays use LCD technology.  They are
electromagnetic displays.  The display elements are made up of plates, black
on one side and brightly colored on the other.  When activated, the elements
quickly flip over to form characters, images, etc.

Contact the Staver Company (516) 666-8000 and ask about the Signalex display
elements.  They are the OEM for the electromagnetic element and may provide
the product you are looking for or can direct you to someone who does.

I am looking for the names of vendors who deal with computer controlled
LCD panels, similar to what you might see on a college scoreboard.
Several people here are looking into the possibility of acquiring a
system for a marquee in front of the building. Anyone who has had
experience dealing with a vendor, please let me know.
