Dear James,
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and I would suggest you check out COSI, the
Center of Science and Industry in dowtown Columbus. It was wonderful when I
grew up there, but I guess it has moved and been renovated into a truly
remarkable facility. It is located off Broad Street, probably on Civic Center
Drive (but anyone living there would know better than I).
The Ohio Historical Society is also in downtown, located near the
fairgrounds I believe.
If you had the time and inclination, you could always travel out of town
and visit some of the many Native American effigy mounds located all over
southern Ohio (with the Serpent Mound being the most famous, of course).
    Have a wonderful trip!
