Strawbery Banke Museum, depicting 400 years of settlement in a seacoast
community, seeks an Museum Education intern for Summer 2005. Strawbery
Banke depicts change over time in a New England port city, emphasizing
preservation and neighborhood life.

This internship offers opportunities to: Develop family and youth
programming; assist in research and development for summer day camp
program; assist in delivering hands-on learning experiences; enhance daily
visitation program with new exhibit interactives; assist in developing
seasonal foodways and domestic life program in an eighteenth-century
setting; conduct historical research to support historic roleplaying
programs in four different time periods. Work alongside professional
museum educators, receive guidance and support for academic credit and
make valuable contributions to the program of a unique outdoor history
museum. Visits to local historic sites and informational seminars on
archaeology, curatorial work, archives, and anthropology/oral history will
be featured.

Stipend: Up to $1000
Housing: May be included at no charge
Term: Eight weeks (June 20-August 12, 2005; dates negotiable)
Eligibility: Any student, undergraduate or postgraduate, who has completed
the sophomore year
