POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: MUSEUM DIRECTOR

Director, Schenectady Museum and Planetarium, Schenectady, NY, in the Capital
Region, Tri-City area of Schenectady, Albany and Troy.  The Museum, 60 years
young and growing, is a general museum with strong emphasis on science,
technology, and industry, as well as art and history.  Included are a museum,
planetarium, visitors' center and nature preserve.  Attendance is in excess of
50,000 annually.

Schools bus their children from eleven New York counties, neighboring Vermont
and Massachusetts to attend educational exhibits, programs and planetarium
shows.  The Director has overall responsibility for business, strategic,
programmatic and educational management.

The Museum seeks a Director with proven interpersonal, marketing and
fund-raising skills, ability to communicate with staff of 21, hundreds of
volunteers, and an active Board of Trustees.  Business experience is a must.

Oversight of a diverse program that includes exhibitry, planetarium programs,
special events, interpreting and maintaining collections, financial controls
and planning, community and school outreach are all important skills.  Must
have a strong appreciation for or professional knowledge of sciences.

We require a goal-oriented, highly ethical, energetic individual.  Must be
growth-focused and ready for expansion.  EOE.
