Thank you for your kind response to our postings of last week. As our
offices were closed on Friday, we only saw your (and many other list
members' ) mail this morning. Our apologies for the grave error in posting
the attached images--it will not happen in the future! Also, apologies to
all museum-l members for the time it took to open these files, and thank
you to those who wrote directly to our offices with comments and
suggestions.

I wanted to send you a polite note although I am sure you are receiving
many messages about now.

Your recent posting of two announcements for the Getty each contained
rather large image attachments. While sending an attachment to a single
person may be appropriate, sending such a message to the entire list is
not appropriate. Many people have accounts with very strict quotas, and
your one e-mail message with an attached image has caused many
people to exceed their alloted space. People who must pay toll charges
for connecting to dialup accounts must also pay for the extra time it takes
to download and process such large image files.

As the listowner I must deal with a major increase bounced e-mail
messages, eating up valuable time.

While sending an announcement of interest to the Museum-L list is
appropriate, sending large image files as attachments is inappropriate.
Please feel free to continue to post, just refrain from posting images.
