North Carolina Museum of History seeks educator responsible for the
development, implementation, and evaluation of public programs. This
position directs education staff in researching, planning, developing,
implementing and evaluating on-site programs, including approximately 350
public programs annually and ongoing group programs, including exhibit tours
and combined classroom/exhibit programs which have approximately 70,000
participants per year. This position collaborates with and serves as an
advisor to educators at the museum's three regional museum, as well as other
museums across the state and region, on issues of program development and
evaluation and volunteer recruitment and training. This position develops
and administers an annual budget; negotiates with director and staff of
other agencies to develop collaborative programming projects. Visionary
leadership is necessary for assuring the overall quality and uniformity of
innovative programs within a team atmosphere. This position supervises five
permanent full-time employees, as well as contractors and temporary staff
hired for specific projects.

Requirements: Four year college degree with a liberal arts major, American
or southern history preferred and two years experience in museum education
which included independent program responsibility and general supervisory
experience. Master degree and experience in program evaluation, successful
grant writing, supervisory experience of professional staff, and knowledge
of material culture, museum and educational philosophy and theory are
preferred. Salary range $26,773-$43,924(grade 68) with benefits. Inquire
