I would agree with Beth also. Where I went, Indiana University, which is
HUGE, the Mathers Museum of World Culture first snagged my attention by
having a booth at the volunteer fair in the student union, where everyone
goes between classes to grab a bite to eat or whatever. When they found out I
had anthropology/archaeology experience, they were interested in having me as
a volunteer.

Later on, I attended an anthropology lecture there and took a gander around.
I got way more serious about finding volunteer time for them after that!

Another way I was introduced to them was by having little 'field trips' there
for some of my classes: Ethnomusicology and one of the Cultural Anthropology
classes.

As I'm now learning how to advertise for volunteers and such, I think these
are all great way to outreach and network more with the school. Just to add
some more ideas!
