Hello:

I need to number an iron bell fragment, and would like some suggestions.
From past observation, marking directly onto iron is ineffective because
the marking may eventually flake off. (However, the pieces that I've
observed were marked far before I began working here, and I'm not sure
what method or supplies the person used.) Also, his fragment has no
protrusion to which I could afix a tie tag or anything similar. Has
anyone on the list successfully tackled a similar situation?

Thanks!
Amanda Dyer
