MUSEUM DIRECTOR/GRANTS ADMINISTRATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for supervising and maintaining all museum operations.
Administers all grant proposals for all city functions.

SALARY: $23,000 - $30,000

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the City Manager.

Has regular contact with the general public and other city employees.

Will work closely with the Historical Commission.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Coordinates all activities of the museum in close relationship with the
Historical Commission.
Catalogues acquisitions; preserves, organizes and prepares exhibits;
maintains museum inventory.
Prepares and maintains museum budget.
Prepares grant requests as directed by the City Manager.
Develops fundraising programs jointly with the Historical Commission.
Plans and prepares educational programs and special events.
Conducts tours of the museum and related areas.
Coordinates public relations, museum publicity and community outreach.
Recruits and trains volunteers.
Produces newsletter/brochures, oversees operations of the gift shop.
Performs other duties as assigned by the City Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in museum studies or history or related field with course
work in business.  Museum experience will be a strong consideration.

Master's Degree a plus and/or significant experience in museum management
or a related education or research organization.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Computer skills necessary.

Posses basic grant application skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Will work indoors in an open office environment as well as some storeroom
and open building/outdoors in extreme heat and humidity.  Must be available
to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
