On a related theme - Dr. Deborah Doxtator authored an important paper on
the First Nations and Museums as part of the Royal Commission on
Aboriginal Peoples in the mid 1990s, which in part addresses and responds
to the (Canadian) Task Force Report Tim McShane mentions.  The Commission
report is published (paper and cd), though it can be somewhat hard to
access south of the border.
