Texas Tech University offers one of the oldest and most respected museum
studies programs. Ninety percent of the grads have museum jobs after
graduation. Many of the students come from all over the US and the world to
earn an MA from TTU. The students also come from a wide verity of academic
backgrounds.

Unlike many programs, the Museum Sci. program at TTU offers a broad based
approach to the field. Other programs have narrow courses of study -- and it
can be hard to find a job if all you know is how to process loans, or
preserve 18th century chairs. Most entry level positions are in small
museum----knowledge about the many aspects of museum science will benefit a
beginner.

Texas Tech is located in Lubbock Texas--not the most exciting place to
live--but the cost of living is low. The program is a two year course of
study--four semester with the option of writing a thesis or doing an
internship. So, it can be done in less time if you can't stand west Texas.
