My post on this topic was made on my lunch hour, as this one is. My boss is fully aware that I am on this list, and encourages it, as she does not have the time to participate herself. I routinely forward her interesting tidbits from it.

Does anyone in a museum really have a 9-5 job? I frequently take work home, check my email from home at night and on the weekends, and spend my own money on supplies when budgets are tight. I don't think this is all that unusual in the museum world. Carving out time for museum-l at lunch and at other times seems typical as well.

So, to contribute the the thread,

You might be a museum professional if you spend all your waking life working, whether you are at work or not.

BRAVO matt
my thoughts exactly.

the employing museums should read this list (which is public online)
and see how much time their 'professionals' waste online.
