I preferred The Band's version to any other cover.  OTOH, there is a
Civil War-era tune of the same name.  Don't have the lyrics in front of
me, and my current band doesn't play it, so I can't even remember what
key it's in! :)  I missed the original post about this, so am in the dark
whether this is germane; but the song is out there, and it's old.
