Executive Director Search.
The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village, a private non-profit
educational organization seeks an enthusiastic individual to lead this
institution into its next phase of development. Manage a $300,000 budget and
supervise staff of 8.5 FTE. Candidate should be fluent in professional museum
standards and have strong working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management.
S/he should be capable of interacting with a diverse constituency; possess

Dedicated to preserving the agricultural heritage of Delaware and the
Delmarva Peninsula and to serving as a vital resource in the community
through its exhibits and educational programming, DAMV opened to the public
in 1980. Long-term and changing exhibitions in the 40,000 square foot museum
building convey the story of technological growth and change in Delmarva's
agricultural industries and farm life, from horse-drawn plows to a Stearman
bi-plane crop duster. Collections of national significance at the Museum
include the 20th century's first chicken broiler house (on the National
Register of Historic Places) and the folk art of Delaware native, Jehu
Camper, who whittled rural scenes from the early 20th century.
Guests can also stroll through Loockerman Landing, a 19th century rural
village with 15 historic structures including, a fully furnished farmstead,
schoolhouse, country store, church, reconstructed mill and other village
businesses. During special events, the Village comes alive with volunteer
interpreters. Nearly 200 individuals from around the state are part of the
museum's Volunteer Corp.

The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village is located in Delaware's capital
city, Dover-a city of grand Georgian and Victorian homes where horse-drawn
buggies from the nearby Amish community are a common sight on city streets.
The greater Dover area is home to 10 museums which partner with each other
through the collaborative, Museums of Greater Dover. Within a 100-mile radius
of Dover are Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC. Rehobeth, Dewey and
Bethany Beaches are less than a one-hour drive. See www.cityofdover.com
