Thanks all for your suggestions.  Upon further digging, I think I have found
a viable solution.  I found tinted hot glue sticks. They are sold for trout
and salmon fly fishermen and are actually colored to match the different
color phases of the egg's development. I'm going to give them a try. If the
results aren't satisfactory, I certainly have a number of great suggestions
that were posted or mailed directly to me from list users to experiment with.
