The Harvard University Art Museums seek a Photographer to work full-time
(35 hours per week) in the Photographic Services Department.The
Photographer's responsibilities include the following: Operates and
maintains a wide range of large-format (8x10") to 35mm camera equipment to
produce high-quality photographs of two-dimensional and three-dimensional
works of art for research and publication. Produces 8x10" black-and-white
negatives and archival prints for curatorial purposes and publication.
Produces 8x10" transparencies for publication. Produces 35mm slides for
lecture and research purposes. Arranges material to be photographed and
selects the appropriate angle, lighting, and background, in consultation
with curatorial staff when appropriate. May assist with specialized
photographic procedures and laboratory techniques including infra-red and
ultra-violet photography. As technology improves, will move to large-format
digital photography, including manipulation of color images, color
calibration and color correction.  Performs related job duties as required.


Required/Preferred Education, Experience, Skills: Technical courses in
photography beyond high school. Five or more years of experience in
large-format photography, including laboratory experience in
film-processing and contact printing from 8x10" negatives. Experience with
studio lighting techniques essential. Experience in fine arts photography
required. Good eye for color essential. Familiarity with color calibration
and color correction of large-format electronic images and experience with
scanning of large-format images highly desirable. Familiarity with digital
manipulation and color correction in Photoshop essential. Interest in and
willingness to keep current with new developments in digital photography
essential. Attention to detail and good organizational skills required.
