What about your university? When I was a graduate student at Indiana
University, there were funds for graduate student research. These
funds were competitive and you submitted a proposal and budget for your
dissertation research. You can ask at the Graduate School and in the
Development Office.

Cordially,

Subject: Re: research grants?

I don't have any lists of funding sources, but contact your local
cooperating collection of the Foundation Center:
http://grantspace.org/  They offer training and webinars on this topic
as well as free access to a database titled: Foundation Grants to
Individuals Online.

Hope this lead is helpful and good luck on your research.

I'm a doctoral student at Northwestern University, writing my
dissertation on local history museums, particularly local museums
dedicated to histories of film, television and popular music. I'm
looking into funding sources for travel to conduct this research, and I
was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts on where I might look and
what kinds of organizations (if any) might offer such grants to study
local museums that don't have their own research endowments. Any advice
or names of organizations or people I might get in contact with that
might help, would be very much appreciated.

Second, if anyone on this list is involved with a local museum whose
focus is on pop culture and pop cultural history, I would love to get
in touch with you.

Please feel free to email off list at [log in to unmask]
thanks so much!
