PEABODY MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

Publications Editor

The Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University is seeking an
experienced person to serve as Publications Editor.  Under the direction of
the Computer Systems Manager and reporting to the Director, the Publications
Editor is responsible for the design, editing and production of publications
relating to the Peabody Museum's collections, research and education
functions, including scholarly periodicals, monographs and other documents.
The Publications Editor is responsible for the maintenance and further
development of the Museum's web site (http://www.peabody.yale.edu), and the
integration of printed and electronic material in ways that strengthen and
support the Museum's mission.  The Publications Editor also assists Museum
staff in developing popular communications (e.g., teaching materials,
brochures).

Qualified applicants must have a B.S. or Master's degree in a relevant
scientific discipline, three years of editorial experience, demonstrated
ability in desktop publishing and web site design and maintenance, and
effective interpersonal skills.

Full time position, 37.5 hours/week.  Yale offers a competitive salary and

PEABODY MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
Yale University

Preparator

The Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University is seeking an
experienced person to serve as Preparator.  Under the direction of the
Curators for Vertebrate Paleontology, the Preparator is responsible for the
preparation, conservation, collecting and mounting of fossil vertebrates for
research and exhibitions.  The Preparator will supervise the Preparation
Laboratory and organize collecting expeditions in the USA and abroad.

Qualified applicants must have five years of experience as a preparator and
a college degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of
experience and education.  The successful applicant must possess artistic
and technical skills in modern techniques of fossil preparation and casting,
knowledge of anatomy, and conservation ethics, techniques and materials.
Supervisory skills in laboratory oversight and related field work is desirable.
