How much can you afford?  ;)

Well, a small museum in Old Town Alexandria advertised it's education director
at $9.40/hr plus full bennies including health care, sick and annual leave.
That's about $20K/year.  Incredibly underpriced IMnoHO.

With those requirements you stated, on the Federal level the position looks
like a GS-7 which starts at around $26k or a GS-9, around $30k/yr.

Still a bit underpaid but at least hte government bennies are really good.

In my area, starting teachers with a B.A. and no experience start at $27K.
5 years experience pushes the salary up to $32K.

I"d say a good educator is worth their weight in gold and should be paid
accordingly but no everyone can afford it.  :)
