I have three tools to offer you in your search:

Social Security Death Index:
http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/ssdi/ssdi_index.asp
(I don't know how often it's updated.)

For phone numbers and addresses try
http://www.555-1212.com

For an indepth web search, you may want to check out
the search primer I wrote that was adapted (with
permission) by a school district in Colorado. You'll
find there a plethora of search engines, tools for
refining your search, and more. It can be found here:

http://204.98.1.2/isu/home/search.html

There is a new search engine I will be adding to the
above document when I put it on my own site. Called
All the Web, it does a more exhaustive search in very
quick time. They say only 2-6% of the Web shows up in
all the search engines of the world. The site below
is attempting to remedy that and is quite fast:

http://www.alltheweb.com

For what it's worth, listers, if you've an interest in
genealogy, the Death Index (first link above) is a
great tool.
