Mike Wallace (not the 60 Minutes Wallace)'s book "Mickey Mouse History" is
a fascinating,thoughtful,  readable book that focuses on Disney but has
much to say about how museums are changing and about what "edutainment"
means.  Reading this book has caused me to think a great deal about what
education in a museum is about.  I'm most familiar with the university
model, and certainly in academia we see different educational styles (for
instance, the expert preaching to the ignorant learners at one end and the
learners exploring a subject with an expert along as guide or scout at the
other).  Wallace thinks that learning CAN be entertaining, that
entertainment and education are not mutually exclusive.  He has fascinating
things to say about the impact of corporate sponsorship on what gets said
