Museum Historian

This position is responsible for coordination and supervision of the
Louisiana State Museum's Division of Research and Education and includes
responsibility for research, exhibitions, public programs, school programs,
and outreach.

The Museum Historian conducts detailed historical research on aspects of
Louisiana history and material culture, and writes or reviews exhibition
scripts.  Responsibilities also include supervision of the Louisiana State
Museum's Education Department staff.  Ph.D in American history plus one year
of professional level experience as an historian required.  Concentration in
Louisiana or Southern history is preferred. Museum experience is highly
desirable.  Completion of all necessary coursework for the Ph.D plus one
additional year of the required experience may be substituted for possession
of the Ph.D.  Salary range:  $28,755 - 47,471/yr. plus benefits. Qualified
