The Smithsonian Institution is technically the U.S. National Museum.
This dates back to its origins in the 19th century. However, the
Institution now consists of 16 museums and various research facilities
outside WAshington D.C. (as well as 2 of the museums). Please let us
know what kinds of information you are looking for, and we will try
to steer you to the right source. Jane Glaser, [log in to unmask]
