Hello Glen Moore:

As a part-time researcher for a fundraising organization (one of my hats),
I have been reading Issue #1 of "The American Benefactor" - Spring 1997.
Publishing info: published quarterly (M,J,S,D) by American Benefactor LLC
575 Lexington Avenue NYNY 10022.

In an article entitled "Ready When You Are, Mr. Gates", about Microsoft's
Bill Gates (Cover portrait entitled America's Richest Man)author Jack Hitt
states that "Currently, American philanthropy in all its forms amounts to
roughly $140 billion a year."

There are many interesting articles but nothing that I have found yet
comparing country to country.

Hope this helps.
