Good Morning Beth,
The Pink Palace Family of Museums is a partnership between the Division of Park Services, City of Memphis, Tennessee (the City) and a not-for-profit Tennessee corporations called Memphis Museums, Inc. (MMI) a 501-c-3 tax exempt organization. The PPFM consists of the Pink Palace Museum, Union Planters IMAX Theater, Sharpe Planetarium, Mallory-Neely House, Magevney House, Lichterman Nature Center, and Coon Creek Science Center. The annual operating budget is over $6M and the "Family" serves over 500K customers annually. Please see our website www.memphismuseums.org for further description of the "family."
You may contact me for more information about the legal contract between the City and MMI and how the relationship works. I am of the opinion that it is an excellent model, offering the "best" of both worlds.

I am interested in gathering a list of museums who are physically owned or in an operating relationship with a municipality. If you site qualifies, would you forward me a contact person? I am particularly interested in historic sites but not restricted to. Thank you.
