TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE

VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT
NEWHOUSE CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
SNUG HARBOR CULTURAL CENTER

Positions available in the Visual Arts Department
of dynamic multi-discipline arts center in 83 acre
park on Staten Island, two miles from the Staten
Island Ferry.  Easily accessed by public
transportation from Manhattan, Brooklyn, and
northern New Jersey.

1. Exhibitions Coordinator

Responsible for exhibition management,
registrarial duties coordination of shipping and
receiving with the Technical
Coordinator/Preparator, compilation and editing of
text for press and printed materials, supervision
of Gallery Attendants and docents, and
other administrative duties.

Qualifications:  At least three years experience
with exhibition
management and strong editing skills.  Must have
an interest in and
knowledge of contemporary art.  Must be highly
organized and able to
work under deadline with a variety of artists and
individuals.  Computer
experience -- word processing, spread sheet, and
limited graphics --
very helpful.

Salary and Benefits: $22,000, with excellent
benefits.  Flexible
schedule.

2. Visual Arts Technical Coordinator/Preparator

Responsible for exhibition installation, care and
shipping, recruitment and supervision of casual
labor, and oversight of gallery maintenance.
Works directly with artists in the creation of new
works and on the long range planning for
institution's exhibition and facility needs.

Qualifications:  Experience with exhibition
installation, basic
carpentry skills, packing and storage of artwork,
and supervision of
co-workers, interest and knowledge of the visual
arts.  Must be
organized for short term and long-range tasks.
Must be able to work
with a wide variety of people under deadline.

Salary and Benefits:  mid-20,000’s, with excellent
benefits.  Flexible
schedule.
