Indigo hit this one squarely on the head.
In the past ten years we have had to rethink our planning (Strategic
planning, exhibit planning, and master planning) to solve an age old
problem with Children's Museum designs. Especially with today's problems
with children's abductions, Mothers do not like to let there older
siblings out of site (with good reasons). So how do you plan for early
learning centers geared for crawlers and at the same time older very
mobile children.
Single floor museums are easier to solve that problem but multiple floor
facilities can be a problem especially if they want to have only one
early learning center. The "Museum Experience" must keep in mind the
adult as well as the child's needs and accommodations need to be planned
for both.
