Job posting: Member Relations Assistant

Job focus is membership sales to museum visitors. The successful candidate
will have experience in customer service or constituent relations.
Experience in a cultural, professional or educational organization would be
beneficial. A high school diploma is required; some college would be
helpful. The successful candidate will be articulate, outgoing and
accustomed to working in a professional customer service environment. Good
phone manners, sound judgement and diplomacy a must. Must be a
self-starter, able to work with little supervision and have the ability to
work as part as a team. Person will work closely with Membership office
staff as well as museum Visitor Services' staff.  Position is full-time,
Wednesday through Sunday. Some evening assistance in the execution of
membership special events is required.

The Chicago Academy of Sciences, founded in 1857, is Chicago's oldest
museum.  It began as a collection of native species of plant and animal
collections indigenous to the region and has evolved into the only
institution to specialize in the ecology and natural history of the
Midwest. Today, the Academy is a progressive cultural and educational
institution dedicated to promoting scientific literacy for all citizens.
When the Academy opens the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park in
October 1999, it will serve as a cornerstone for all of the Academy's
innovative scientific learning and environmental programs.
