ASSOCIATE CURATOR (COLEOPTERA DEPARTMENT);

The Transvaal Museum requires a coleopterist to occupy the second of
two research positions. Duties will include 50% of time in curation of
the departmental collection and 50% on research of mostly southern
African beetle group(s). The successful candidate should be willing to
participate in  the annual growth of collection through active
fieldwork programme, help with  identification and public contact
functions, interact with other research staff, local entomological
community, utilize opportunities through the museum's  educational
programmes, e.g. presenting lectures to visiting school groups, and via
museum lecture series.

Applicants should have a background in systematic entomology,
contemporary computer skills to contribute to departmental efforts
towards databasing of the entire collection (1,3 million specimens) as
well as developing web pages on own research direction. Minimum
qualification: M.Sc., Entomology or Zoology.

The salary scale notch will be awarded according to the successful
candidates' qualification and experience.

To be fair, the chance to appoint a non-South African citizen is
remote, but we will consider all applications, especially if no local
candidates can be found.
