Dirk:

What does a touch screen system as such cost? Thanks.

Dear all,

Please refer to this link to see a solution to poor label design:

http://www.rmv.nl/rmv/e/index/fr_opening.html, then click on
"exhibitions"

On the left hand side of the screen you will see a photograph of a
touch
screen. This is what visitors interact with at the National Museum
Ethnology in Leiden, The Netherlands. These labels are tailor-made for
each case; they present outlines of the objects that are in the
display
case immediately behind it. A visitor has the option to collect
information by touching the silhouette of an object. Such labels,
while
costly, also present one with another advantage: a toggle to go back
and
forth between different languages (in Leiden, this would be Dutch and
English).

Screens like these present an elegant and efficient solution to the
problem mentioned in earlier emails on poor exhibit label text, as
well
as to a problem not yet mentioned: presenting information in multiple
languages.

Regards,

Dirk van Tuerenhout
