The Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis, TN has the following positions
open:

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens seeks applications for the position of
assistant director.  Position is responsible for the day-to-day
management of museum administrative operations. Responsibilities include
supervision and management of personnel program, membership,
public/media relations, special events and facilities use, museum store
and volunteers, and guards. Works with director to strategize and
realize institutional goals, including developing and monitoring
long-range and annual budgets, grant writing, and fund-raising
activities of the museum. Assistant director reports to the director.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in the arts, arts
management, or a related field, with a minimum of five year's museum or
equivalent experience. Excellent communication and computer skills

SENIOR CURATOR

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens seeks an energetic and experienced senior
curator to manage collection of 1600 objects. Responsibilities include
research, interpretation, and management of the permanent collection;
planning and coordination of special exhibitions; acquisitions;
publications; donor relations; supervision of registration and prep
departments; budget development and monitoring; and working
collaboratively to develop programs.

Successful candidate will be a collegial, organized, self-starter with 7
to 10 years of progressive experience in curatorial setting; possess
direct and open communication style; and have strong writing,
interpersonal and public presentation skills. Demonstrated track record
in exhibition development, collections management, and scholarship
required; advanced degree in related field required. Salary commensurate

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens is a specialized fine arts museum, housed
in a Georgian-style residence and gallery complex. The museum is
surrounded by 17 acres of gardens. The Dixon's permanent art collection
features French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early modernist
paintings, and related schools, as well as the Stout Collection of 18th
century German porcelain and related decorative arts. In addition, the
Dixon maintains a diverse schedule of special exhibitions drawn from the
finest private and public art collections in the world.
