Job Announcement

Historic Huguenot Street, a museum located in New
Paltz, NY, seeks a creative, self-motivated individual
to raise a combined total of $500,000 in 2008 through
the solicitation of major gifts, bequests, and grants.
The successful candidate will also help to oversee the
performance of other development-related functions
such as special events coordination, publicity
campaigns, and membership management. The Director of
Development reports to the Executive Director and
oversees a staff of one to two part-time assistants.

The qualified candidate will be an excellent
communicator who possesses strong interpersonal,
writing, and, organizational skills.  A minimum of 5
years experience in a museum or cultural institution
is preferred.

Historic Huguenot Street is a center of history and
culture whose mission is to collect, preserve and
share with the public an inspiring story of an
American community as it evolved from the 17th century
to the present day. The site, owned and operated by
the Huguenot Historical Society, is a National
Historic Landmark District featuring seven original
stone houses dating to the early 1700s, a burial
ground and a reconstructed 1717 stone church. Tours of
the historic houses are available May through October,
Tuesday through Sunday. Group tours are available by
appointment. The site also offers educational
programs, special events, research library and
services, rental facilities, and museum shop. The
Society also maintains Locust Lawn: An American
Homestead Farm, which includes the 1814 Josiah
Hasbrouck House and the 1738 Evert Terwilliger House.
This site is open weekends June through October. New
Paltz is located halfway between Albany and New York
City a few miles to the west of the Hudson River.
